Little Girl Gifts!

10 / 30 / 12

A friend of the family turned 2 years old the other day.  Her present from her parents was a baby doll, so I made her a sleeping bag and a tiny version of one of my towelling backed baby bibs in some lovely girly fabrics.

Having 2 boys, there are no baby dolls available for modelling in this house, so I used Woody instead.  You get the picture…!

Nice and cosy, easy for little hands to tuck dolly in!

…plus a cute little bib just like a real baby’s!

Have fun playing my little friend…!

Works in progress…

10 / 23 / 12

I’ve got a few works in progress here at cherrypeg HQ.  A friend is having a baby soon so I am working on some cute gifts for him/her.  Here’s a little sneak peek at one of them:

White felt stars with a natural linen centre and a pearly button.  I’ll show you when it’s finished.

I’m also working on some new quilt designs for my shop:

I love linen and the liberty fabric I’ve been using, I’m very excited about carrying on work on these lovelies, I only hope they turn out as I want them to!

There are more chevrons in the works too, continuing the linen and Liberty theme:

Here they are, laid out on my studio floor, the Liberty line has been sewn, but the polka dots are still waiting.  I’m itching to get sewing but I’m going to have to wait too, I have work tomorrow and my little toddler “helper” for the rest of the week, maybe at the weekend?  We’ll see…

Treasury Tuesday

10 / 16 / 1210 / 16 / 12

I’ve had a long morning this morning!  My littlest boy had an accident at nursery, not serious fortunately, and we had to wait in A&E to get him checked out.  It was not very interesting and my boy was so well behaved – I think eating the packed lunch I had made for work really helped, as did the emergency bar of chocolate I had in my bag.

I am thankful for the caring of the staff at his nursery, and all the staff at the hospital, and most of all, for my 2 lovely little boys!

For my 2 little boys!

Waiting for the postman…

10 / 13 / 12

I’m waiting for the postman to come as I’ve ordered some new fabrics.  They’re coming from America, from this shop on Etsy, so I’m not sure how long they’ll take, hope they arrive soon!  Wherever I can, I like to work with fabric I already have, or re-purpose clothes I find in charity shops, both for economical and ecological reasons.  Sometimes, however, the lure of those pretty patterns is just too much!  I’ve ordered a charm pack each of Moda’s Oh Deer by Momo, and Sew Stitchy by Aneela Hoey.  I love both those designers – the first quilt i made was from Moda’s It’s a Hoot by Momo, and I still love looking at it.

Here are some pictures of what’s on its way:

Some lovely designs there, I can’t wait!

I love charm packs because I DO NOT like cutting my fabrics out!  It’s not that I can’t, it’s just that they never all come out even.  I think my technique must be wrong!  Anyway, I think I will use at least one of them to make this cutie.

Happy Saturday!

Treasury Tuesday

10 / 9 / 1210 / 9 / 12

It’s Tuesday.  Treasury Tuesday!

It’s half term in a couple of weeks and we’re going on a trip to the seaside.  I can’t wait, it’s so long since we’ve been.  We’ll play on the beach, explore rock pools, and have fish and chips.  There’s a Sealife centre where we are going, so if it is too cold or rainy we can go there.  My boys will love it!

I’ve put together a collection of items I found on Etsy that make me think of the seaside in autumn, mostly grey but definitely beautiful! Enjoy x

Weekend

10 / 7 / 1210 / 9 / 12

Wow, what a full weekend. One of the prettiest things I saw was the sky on our way home this evening.

I’m getting ready for Monday now, folding washing by the fire, then I’m going to watch Downton Abbey in bed. Lovely!
